CLARIN-NL launches in Call 4 an Open Call. (there is also a closed call but that is restricted to researchers explicitly invited for the closed call)
This call is open to employees of organizations that are participant in CLARIN-NL.
CLARIN-NL is open to new participants. If your organisation is not a participant in CLARIN-NL, contact the CLARIN-NL Office immediately to inquire whether your organization is eligible for becoming a participant in CLARIN-NL.
The total budget for this call is limited to a maximum of € 600,000.
This call is specifically open for proposals targeting resource curation projects or demonstrator projects, or a combination of both. Only those proposals that specifically target this priority will be eligible. Such projects take existing data or tools as a basis and attempt to apply CLARIN-supported standards and best practices to make the data and tools CLARIN-compliant.
Proposals are elicited from humanities topics and disciplines, with a priority for the following (sub)disciplines:
- Literary sciences
- Cultural sciences
- Communication & Media Studies, including Theatre sciences
- History and political sciences
The order reflects the level of priority: the higher on the list, the higher the priority
Projects involving multiple priority disciplines are especially encouraged.
Proposals on topics other than the listed priorities will be considered, but must show their special relevance for the CLARIN infrastructure.

The maximum budget per project is 120,000€.
An information session on this call will be organized on August 30th, 2012.

The Submission deadline is: Wednesday September 26, 2012, 13:00 hours CET
The International Advisory Panel (IAP) will, if needed, formulate questions and remarks that will be sent to the coordinator of each project proposal on Monday November 12, 2012.
The coordinator must have provided feedback to these questions and remarks within one week, so by Monday November 19, 2012.
Around mid December 2012, CLARIN-NL will notify the coordinators of each project whether the project is awarded funding or not, including justification in the form of the IAP's and National Advisory Panel's (NAP) assessment reports.
Early 2013 all awarded projects will be announced publicly and summaries of the awarded projects will be published on the CLARIN-NL website.
Reviewing of the project proposals will be done in accordance with the CLARIN-NL Review Procedure. !!!Note! The review procedure is slightly different than in previous calls!!! especially because each project coordinator will be given the opportunity to provide feedback on questions and comments by the IAP, and because the roles of IAP and NAP have slightly changed in comparison with previous calls.

You can only use this form if you are a registered user of the CLARIN-NL website. If you are not a registered user, please register (Click on "Login" on the Menu Bar and select the tab Create New Account, or directly go here). You can view your submissions via http://www.clarin.nl/node/135.
If you have made submissions in earlier calls, you might get the message "You have already submitted this form. View your previous submissions". You can ignore this message.
Tips for submission:
- A (candidate) CLARIN-centre must be involved in the project. For a list of (candidate) CLARIN centres and a characterization of their focus, see http://www.clarin.nl/node/130.
- The contact persons of the (candidate) CLARIN-centres can also help and advise in the more technical matters that are required in the project, so it is important and useful to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
- The CLARIN-NL office offers a service to read pre-versions of proposals to ensure that simple mistakes or omissions are avoided and eligibility chances are assessed. Make use of this service! Send a preliminary version of the proposal to the CLARIN-NL Office.
- It is strongly recommended to fill out the web form as soon as possible, and attach a preliminary version of the project proposal, to avoid overload on the CLARIN-NL website close to the submission deadline as much as possible. You can always edit your submission and attach a newer version of your project proposal until the submission deadline.
- In some versions of Word, you might, when opening the proposal template, get the question: "This document contains links that may refer to other files. Do you want to update this document with the data from the linked files?". Answer "NO".
- Copy the project summary that is required in the project proposals to the project summary field of the web form.
- The format of the project proposal must be PDF, and you can only upload a file with extension .pdf or .zip.
- You can upload only one file. So if your submission would (exceptionally) consist of multiple files, zip them and submit the zipped file.
- If possible, submit your final proposal as soon as possible, preferably long before the deadline, because it will avoid overload of the website.
- If you encounter problems, report them to the CLARIN-NL office. If the problems are so serious that you cannot upload the proposal using the web form, we allow submission by e-mail as a backup (send it to firstname.lastname@example.org). However, you will have to justify why you submitted by e-mail. Without such justification, a submission by e-mail might be declared formally non-compliant!
